Better still; enjoy a cycle ride hand-in-hand along the striking tulip fields while admiring the famous picturesque canals and windmills. Or indulge your taste buds with exquisite Dutch cheese and savour a beer. Also, for some fun, try out a pair of wooden clogs.

And there’s more fun facts about having your honeymoon in the Netherlands. Generally speaking, Dutch weather is very much like European weather. Spring can be chilly and mild, the summers are warm, (with climate change extremely hot) the average temperature is 17,0C. During autumn temperatures can drop as low as 10,6C and there is quite a bit of rain fall. And don’t forget a winter honeymoon in the Netherlands if you like temperatures as low as 3,4C. Amsterdam

If you’ve been spending holidays together for years, Amsterdam the capital is an amazing place to be. It’s situated in the North of Holland and called the Venice of the north. The perfect spot for a honeymoon in the Netherlands. From canal houseboats, cruises and waterfront locations, these cozy settings encircled by water is a favored destination wedding location. It’s Europe’s most liberal city: the Red Light District, Paradiso the music venue and Anne Frank’s House you cannot miss.  Albeit, sex, coffee shops and rock and roll excite many couples. Other interesting places are the Van Gogh’s museum, Westerpark, Rembrantplein, and Vondelpark. Mingle with the locals and admire the tulip bulbs at the flower market. And, enjoy a shopping trip to the Albert Cuyp market.

The Hague – Scheveningen

Discover a Dutch masterpiece “The Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Vermeer in the Hague. Spend some time together in this charming metropolitan. Rotterdam

Also known as Manhattan on the Maas, Rotterdam with it’s futuristic architecture is ideal for the urban nomad couple. It’s a special place to have a honeymoon in the Netherlands. Be inspired by the great art and endless drinking, dining and nightlife venues. It’s a thrilling city. You won’t run out of fun stuff to do and there’s a choice of cruise outings to try. Discover Rotterdam for your honeymoon destination it’s near Leiden, home of the renowned Delft Blue pottery factory. Delft Blue is similar to Chinese porcelain, dating back to the 17th century. Loaded with history, museums and theatres, Leiden and Rotterdam are for modern day newlyweds. You won’t get bored here.

Haarlem

Haarlem is a captivating, medieval city in the North of Holland. It’s perfect Dutch getaway for an inclusive, peaceful yet exciting honeymoon. Choose from numerous sightseeing tours or just explore the city. This is the place to create a wonderful wedding photo album full of breathtaking scenery. It’s an amazing backdrop. Look no further for an energetic nightlife, fantastic ambience, first-rate shopping and fine dining. Get busy searching for the historic streets, impressive Gothic architecture and free attractions. Or simply relax on the Zandvoort beach near Haarlem, a 20-minute train ride away from Amsterdam.

Den Bosch – ’s-Hertogenbosch

The beautiful city of Den Bosch (‘s-Hertogenbosch) also known as the Duke’s Forest is warm and welcoming. The Saint John’s Cathedral is a good location to start. This is without a doubt one of the architectural highlights of a honeymoon in the Netherlands. There are many stunning canals to cruise along while enjoying the special sights. Whether it’s raining or the sun beaming, you’ll have an awesome experience. Spend time at a café and savor the delightful flavor of a cup of Dutch coffee. Also, try the legendary Bossche Bol (chocolate pastry with cream) a local delicacy. In case you don’t know, the famous Dutch painter Jheronimus Bosch was born in Den Bosch. His masterpieces can be found at Noordbrabants Museum. This museum is located in the city center. It’s worth a visit too.

Gouda

Gouda is a wonderful town in the South of Holland, famous for its distinctive cheese. This is where the city got its name. Gouda is a delightful hideaway, popular for its spectacular old buildings, located in the center of the city. Getting around by foot is easy. To satisfy your sweet, craving tooth, indulge in “Stroopwafels” (thin waffles layered with caramel-like syrup). They are delicious after a walk around the city or after the cheese market. The Gouda Cheese Market takes place every Thursday morning (except on 5th May, Ascension Day) from 7th April till the 25th August. So, if you desire a different kind of honeymoon, then Gouda is the place to be. One last thing, make sure to buy cheese and stroopwafels in the marketplace. And, remember to try the herring with onions and gherkins. This is a truly enticing Dutch treat for a honeymoon in the Netherlands.

Friesland

Leeuwarden, Friesland is one of the best-kept secrets and a lovely spot for a honeymoon in the Netherlands. Absolutely everything about the area is worth exploring. Located around the intimate capital city Leeuwarden are national parks, polders, dykes and private landscapes with gorgeous forests. Take a romantic journey on the riverboat tours and admire Friesland from the water. It travels along the finest scenic routes. You’ll easily recognize the history of the province in the ancient cultural landscape. After the excursion, walk together and explore more things. Basically, you can adore the incredible nature of Friesland. Delight in real Dutch countryside. What’s more, no planning is required as the Frisian people are genuinely hospitable.

Utrecht

Utrecht is one of the Netherlands oldest and most charming cities for a distinctive wedding anniversary holiday. Everything you need is within reach because you can walk everywhere.  There is no car traffic, only bikes. The sensational old town is set among monumental canals, dating back to the seventeenth century. Seek out the area leisurely by foot. You will not be disturbed so you’re free to have an intimate private time. The city is home to several international visitors, distinguished music festivals, modern architecture, and noteworthy museums. There are quaint streets lined with exclusive undiscovered shop brands, bars and cafes. Utrecht is a vibrant and culturally refined city for a memorable honeymoon in the Netherlands. In addition, it’s the ideal escape for the more energetic couple.

The whimsical province of Zeeland, near the Belgium border is located west of the Netherlands. Water surrounds this district and it has a series of islands. Each island has its own culture, dialect and nature reserve. It’s an exceptional destination for a sporty and adventurous honeymoon. This isn’t the place to spend all day in your hotel room snuggling up. Instead, enjoy the many surprising walkways, cycle paths and the largest tucked away beaches. It’s also an excellent location for swimming, canoeing and snorkeling together. You’ll have the opportunity to release endorphins and really set the mood for your distinctive wedding anniversary and unforgettable honeymoon. Whether you like walking, running or cycling, this is a must-visit region.

Limburg – Maastricht

Last on my top 10 list for a distinctive wedding is Limburg, Maastricht. Limburg is the largest maker of local Dutch beers. It’s positioned above sea level. Honeymooners love the sprawling, hilly landscape and the Maas River. If you enjoy cycling, walking or boat trips you’ll have fun here. There are many special things to do together. You can try Dutch restaurants in the charming city of Maastricht, the capital of Limburg. There is something here for every newlywed. Furthermore, the captivating Chateau Nercanne is an ideal location for hikers and cyclists. Maastricht is lively, pleasant and diverse the perfect honeymoon in the Netherlands for nature lovers looking for peace and tranquillity.
