The Proposal

Three times had Mr & Mrs WP’s lives crossed, once in Britain and twice in Holland. And the chance meetings finally led to twelve years of relationship bliss. When did Nayan pop the question? Well, it was on their love trip to India and Caroline said YES, at one of the seven wonders of the world. The UNESCO world heritage site Taj Mahal.

The Venue

We warmly welcomed family and friends of Caroline and Nayan with the greeting “Namaste” to the gorgeous wedding venue the Hoftuin – greenhouse. This splendid greenhouse steeped in history, was nestled in an idyllic garden near the Hermitage museum. And it was a glorious sunny autumn day, filled with the perfume of the happy couple’s chosen bridal flowers.

Autumn wedding celebration planning

Writing the marriage service script was pure pleasure. We incorporated all important family members and revised many drafts to get it right. Nayan and Caroline spilled the beans on their love life and guided me down a romantic memory lane. Of course, the couple didn’t share all the juicy bits, just enough to create a lively wedding ceremony.

With a greenhouse wedding ceremony, the see-through glass walls and ceilings gave us all a feeling we were outside, without being exposed to the elements. Under the enticing autumn afternoon sun of the Dutch conservatory, family and friends witnessed the couple make promises of undying love, loyalty and commitment.

Wedding celebration kiss & vows

The couple choose not to have personal vows but opted for the “official” wedding vows. It read: To have and to hold from this day forward, etc. Then, the ultimate moment of the ceremony arrived, it was time for the groom to kiss the bride I said, “You may now kiss each other.” Family and friends began to cheer and clap, as Nayan and Caroline warmly embraced in each others arms.

Autumn wedding celebration symbolism

Did you know my ceremonies are not complete without signing a symbolic certificate? This occurs after the best man delivers the rings and the the circles of love is exchanged. And Nayan sealed the deal and confirmed their commitment to each other by hitting the ceremonial hammer on a wooden block. There were smiles of joy and everyone was overwhelmed with happiness.

Final wedding ceremony act

Lastly, Caroline and Nayan invited family and friends to affirm that they would help them find middle ground and fall in love, time and time again with each other. Everyone responded with “We will”. It was a memorable moment and their were roars of laughter and non-stop tears of joy. A great beginning to married life and a wonderful closure to a autumn wedding day!
